The
problem with hanging surface sterilizers that use UV light to
disinfect room air is their ability to effectively clean the air
in the room. Although effective on surfaces they come in contact
with the UV also degrades the surfaces, such as paint, wallpaper,
ceiling tiles, etc. Standard UV air purifiers made specifically
for surfaces often hang from the ceiling, in many cases directly
over a patient. Because UVC light is dangerous to eyes and skin
these products are shielded at the bottom and allow UV light to
shine out the sides and the top, reaching ceiling & walls.
Unfortunately these products do not clean all the air they could.
An ongoing problem with a simple solution, the ADU by CaluTech.
Color shown is US Army green, but it's available in any color.
This new Patent
Pending UV air sterilizer uses a fully enlcosed UV electromagnetic
radiation field to protect those in the room from over exposure,
and to protect paint and other surfaces from the UV light source.
Rather than shine directly on walls and ceilings the ADU features
it's own air movement system fully encapsulated within the air
purifier. By drawing air from the lower part of the room, filtering
it, sterilizing it, and pushing it back down to the floor the
ADU is an ideal solution to indoor air quality and decontamination
in rooms. The ADU, or Air Defense Unit, was specifically designed
for Tuberculosis and other patient to staff risks of exposure
to disease.
The ADU is available
in a variety of designs, large and small. The design is very flexible.
The ADU can even be manufactured in larger form, with additional
'braches' for large rooms, or use 2 or 3 of the UV air purifiers
pictured above for savings on manufacturing costs. The UV air
system can be ceiling hung or wall mounted. Because we manufacture
it we can make any type of mounting method you require, from wood
ceiling & walls to concrete structures. The UV system pictured
is designed for a room up to 30 X 30, or a patient room up to
20 X 20 if used for medical air sterilization where exposure is
high risk. The ADU can be fitted with activated carbon filters,
tacked polyester (washable), or pleated filters. The UV currently
standard in these UV air purifiers produces 15 to 20k microwatts,
enough to kill Tuberculosis (TB) which is rendered harmless at
10k, Bird Flu which is deactivated at about 7k, and a variety
of other airborne pathogens.
